Lanaudière Region

Lanaudière is located between the St. Lawrence River to the south and the Laurentian Mountains to the north. Its neighbouring regions are Laurentides in the west and Mauricie in the east. Situated just a few kilometres north of Montreal, Lanaudière covers a vast north-south corridor some 85 km wide and about 250 km deep, for a total area of 13,537 sq. km. Travelling from south to north, the visitor passes from well populated regions to barely inhabited wilderness areas.

Lanaudière is a vast territory entrenched between river and mountains, where most major types of Quebec landscape can be found. It is a fascinating mix of tourist attractions and places with a special charm. For these reasons it is often called “Quebec in miniature”!

In the north, the landscapes consist of mountains, forests, lakes, fast-running rivers and waterfalls – ideal country for hunting and fishing!
